After all the hassles brought in by claiming insurance, I’ve decided to get a new unit instead. It’s a 2012 Ford Everest.

Obviously, this is bigger, better and tougher than my late Ford Focus. I went with the Desert Bronze color which gives a twist to the usual black or white tone which customers usually choose. Also, it has more seating capacity so I can invite more friends over for out of town trips.

The 2012 edition of the Ford Everest has some few face lifts. It now sports a stock spoiler and illuminated scuff plates. This gives a big dose of “oomph” to the ride.

It also has an added bling (in grey color) on the bumper and some wood finish on the interior. I added a few thousands to have ICE installed as well. The ICE also has a reverse camera which aids me when I drive in reverse.

This is one hell of a top-of-the-line contender as I see a lot of trips coming my way. I had super dark tints applied so at least I cannot be seen easily if I drive alone. 3M  lives up to its name when I say I wanted to be hidden from unexpected company. Although, of course, if you put your hands at the side of your face near the eyes and lean over the windows, you will see the interior.

So far, so good. Although it had a couple of minor problems, the casa has already scheduled them for maintenance. All I’m waiting for is my plate. woohoo! Cheers to this new ride! A much more sensible choice than keeping the old Ford Focus with me.

Drive safely people!

Early morning of August 20, 2011, five of my friends and I were passing the stretch of National Highway, Calamba, Laguna from Nuvali, Sta. Rosa. It was at around six o’clock in the morning when we passed the curve near Bagong Kalsada. Whilst on the fourth gear, I turned right as the road dictated and the right front wheel slid towards the right as there was this uneven, unfinished asphalt project whatsoever. The sudden change in lane caused panic as it forced me to steer the wheel to the right a bit more. And with lack of enough sleep, it was too late for me to turn the wheel to the left to gain back control.

This was the uneven/unfinished lane after the curve.

A few meteres from where the car slid to the right, we hit the nearest concrete barrier that separates the land and the main road. There was a creek (kanal) between them. The car went air-borne having the right front wheel smash onto the soil as it propelled forward a few meters. We were stopped by a signage post saying, “the road goes to the left” –yeah right!

The airbag went off. I remember it being inflated as my face goes towards it. It felt soft but it has this distinguishing foul odor, more like burnt rubber. The engine went off and all I can hear was the flasher pointing to the right and the stereo playing “Backseat by New Boys feat. The Cataracts and Dev”

On the dashboard I see some icons lit up. There’s the airbag, ABS, right flasher, check engine.

On a split second, I heard a loud bang as the car smashes onto the right. There where sparks all over the dashboard. Everything went bright white until I realized the airbag stopping my face hitting the steering wheel. Upon realizing what happened, I uttered “Okay lang kayo lahat? Naku, lagot ako sa dad ko” I went out the vehicle to see the perimeter. My friends, one by one, tried to walk out the car as well. I asked Diana to step out the car only to realize, it was the passenger side that got hit. I confirmed that everyone was okay.

The baranggay tanods nearby checked if we were all okay. And since no one got hurt, they went off saying “Ah wala naman pala nasaktan, tara na.” I reached into the glove compartment trembling to get the number to call and the policy number of the insurance. I got a truck to pick the car up and have it brought to Ford San Pablo.

To cut the long story short. Insurance declared that it was total wrecked and they will give us a lump sum amount based on the market value of the vehicle to date. Until now, we’re still waiting for the said payment. So there, marque26 -focus no more.

Thank heavens we’re all okay! Thank you, Lord! =D> Thanks to my mom, for always guiding me wherever I go! [-o< Salamat din sa mga tumawag, nag-text, nagcomment sa Facebook, sa Twitter at kung sa paanong paraan pa yan. Good thing we’re all safe. Built tough talaga ang Ford! :)

We had a Good Run, my Focus and I. Drive safely, you guys! :D

Marque at Fontana | MuchMoreSenseI’ve been hearing “Fontana” for quite some time now and it’s my first time to experience it’s water theme park just this past weekend. In full, it’s called Fontana Hot Spring Leisure Parks. It got me thinking why the water there was cold. Laughs! Then it came to me –I went there when typhoon Falcon was at large. I was with my officemates and we got two  2-bedroom villas to keep us warm.

It was an early day for me as I needed to travel from Laguna to Makati then from there to Pampanga. I had everything ready and went on my way even before the sun let it’ rays touch my face whilst I was in the garage.

I drove a bit faster than 90 and slower than a hundred on highways. I took the sky way to prevent myself being caught in traffic. I arrived at the office at around 30 minutes past the hour of nine in the morning. I was immediately told that there were a few ones whom have decided not to join us in our trip to Fontana. Sad. I guess they have their own reasons and I respect that. Having said that, I left the car parked in Makati.

Off we went to Fontana. We had a lot of laughs on the way to Pampanga. We had a chance to buy some goodies/groceries when we are at Clark. After which, we went straight to Fontana. We got the first villa ready for check-in. We called it “Nova”. The next one would then be available at 2PM that day. We called that “Ruel”. Okay, maybe you got yourself thinking. It’s Nova Villa and Villa Ruel. Got the point? Laughs.

As soon as we checked-in on our first villa, we start munching like crazy hyenas over a piece of fallen sparrow meat. We had crispy spicy sisig, chopsuey and lengua with creamy mushroom sauce. We kept ourselves busy with munching until there isn’t any space available in our stomach to fill in. After we’ve checked-in on our second villa, we decided to take a trip on the water park beside the casino.

We had to be in our official swimwear –sheesh! Anyways, it was a great place especially for kids. The place was full of dinosaur replicas. Elephants and monkeys fill-up the pool side. And there were a lot of water attractions, of course, which include the wave pool. Aside from the wave pool at the middle, it had two pools that had kiddie play grounds in them. One for the little kids and another for the bigger young-at-heart individuals. Near the end of the park is this big dome-shaped slide. Yes, imaging a funnel turned on its side, then fill it with water. Beside that are three great green slides. One is a usual loopy slide, then a loopy slide that required you to be on a lifesaver. The third one is the best, at least for me, because you’d be in an enclosed slide. Darkness for about 10 seconds then before you know it, you’re at the pool. Wrapped around the theme park is a long river-like water attraction. They call it Lazy River.

Villa at Fontana | MuchMoreSenseWe went back to our villas before the clock hit 6PM. Everybody is hungry and we started to prepare for dinner. We got the salmon grilled, the liempo fried and everything else warmed up. This, once again, filled us up! Whew! The night went on finding ourselves watching Pilipinas Got Talent. Of course, with beer everywhere. It even got to a point that channel 2 had to play it’s closing station id. Everyone went to bed after that.

The following day is a lot more special as we had our team building. I’ll discuss that in detail on my next post.

As nerve-wracking as our task is at the office (okay, i’m exaggerating), we need a break once in a while. Having this at Fontana made much more sense to having a simple team outing.
